It’s been a long time since i’ve received a bouquet of flowers from a man.
[A long while]
It’s been an even longer while since I’ve received flowers from a man as a surprise, not as an obligatory gesture for a hallmark holiday.
Tonight, I received a “just because I love you” bouquet from my sweetheart.
Elated? You bet!
My face is flushed with joy and love is buzzing throughout my aura.
Being in love is such a gift.
And receiving flowers “just because” is the icing on the cake.
Even more so because my partner has always been a bit curious as to why people buy flowers - feeling as it is somewhat wasteful and environmentally unfriendly. Tonight he changed his tune as we delved into the world of flowers.
The thing is - as was said in Alice in Wonderland (my favorite disney movie) - “you can learn a lot of things from the flowers”.
And we can.
Like how simple and beautiful life is. How precious and fleeting each moment is. How to appreciate these moments as they pass. Flowers teach us the impermanence of everything and show us the natural cycles of life and death through seasonal bloom, or the withering petals just days after it is picked.
Flowers reflect back to us our beauty, our unique fragrance and color - our essence. Flowers are a higher vibration than us because all they do is shine and provide beauty - in addition to the magic of flower essences (which is a whole other topic in and of itself). Flowers are no nonsense, no pretense, no ego…just pure life essence. And, they feed our glorious bees, and other insects too - which essentially feed us!
So if I may share this with you - this is my gratitude message to flowers:
Thank you. Thank you for showing me how to be beautiful just by being myself. Thank you for showing me how to live in the moment, drink water, and soak up the goodness and appreciation I receive from others. Thank you for showing me how I can bring joy to other people’s lives - as you did for me tonight.
And, thanks to my sweetie for proving me right - true love IS possible.
